Team USA by PBRack prevailed at the PALS Philippines Open, bringing home a hard fought 1st place beating out Iran team Datis and STK from Australia in close overtime matches. Were still awaiting our full prize package from the PALS hopefully that comes in the mail pretty quick so we can make our way to World Cup Asia and represent.

Boom Baby were out of here. We're off to the Philippines tomorrow morning for the 2nd leg of the PALS series. We have a team compromised of a bunch of PBRack employees and friends working on bridging the gap between US and Asia paintball. Competing under the team name- Team USA by PBRack . Then after the Philippines owner Tommy Tucker is taking off to China for 4 weeks to finish up the production on the 2011 lines. Look for some great things in the future and make sure to root the crew on in the Philippines. We should be updating the blog occasionally so keep checking back for some great insight.

The Rack BS team shredded the U-16 division at the NWWSA, 1st/2nd and 3rd good job Aaron, Ted and Jack and Ryan and Ezra doing well in the Am division. Be prepared 2011 is the year of Rack BS! The NWWSA is a relatively new Wakesurf competition in Washington State, our all star crew of sports athletes seemed to show that they can stomp the competition in just about every extreme sport. Congrats boys!

So looks like the word is trickling down, either way we've been looking at new office's last week and I think we found the next step in our growth. The new place is 3800 sq ft, gives us a load more room and is laid out a million times better than our current office, so the 3800 appears like it's over 5,000 sq ft. The new place has upstair offices which are really cool, as well as much more room for a big store front ;) Details in the future.....

We also have Rack House V 2.0 in the works right now, the funny part is our Rack House location is only 5 blocks from the new potential office... can someone say skate to work?

As usual the work mode's been in effect. We've been busy training up a new intern, and a few artists. We've been re-printing pbrack stuff all week, as well as printing some new designs I think everyone will like.

Here's some sneak peaks at some new stuff and some of the printing we've been up to. Were busy right now working on the new pbrack site that I think everyone will like. A little later today the Rackers are heading to Silverdale, Washington and some other peninsula skateparks for the day. Hopefully the weather holds.

1st BCPPL of the year coming up

The first BCPPL of the year is coming up may 8/9 in Surrey, British Columbia. Should be another great event, the PBRack crew will be there playing and covering the event. There may be a booth selling PBRack merch, we will have to wait and find out who though, I'm hoping PaintballGear.ca will be there with a booth slanging the new line. The office is busy this week, we have a new intern coming up from the Portland area as well as printing some new designs for the 2011 line, I think you guys are going to dig these new designs. We have also been working with Guerrilla Air on some promotional videos/ photo projects for them. Lately we have been testing out there new myth reg, I must say everyone needs to go out and pick the new Myth 2 reg up, the smallest, lightest, functionable reg ever produced.

Looks like Kick ass is going to be the movie to checkout, I've only heard good things, I would suggest checking it out. In the mean time with this update, I wanted to let all our blog readers know first that we will be re-vamping the PBRack website over the next 4 weeks, this will mean a site with a lot more room for what we have going on- you will also see a lot more- Videos, products, new store software much easier to use, dealer login page and a much more put together site.

I would also like to let everyone know that this season has been an enormous success. Dealers are signing on left and right wanting to try out the new pants and the clothing line as a whole. As most of you know we have been beefing up our brand image lately to follow that we will be working very hard to improve our current product line and work on expanding it.

Looks like PBRack taking 2nd in Canadian Nationals stirred up some media, they have the first shot in the X3 magazine coverage too, holding the big PBRack banner. In the picture is Owner Tommy Tucker, PBRack photographer Jimmy Hickey, Team Manager Greg Siewers and some friends. They took 2nd in Division 1 at Canadian Nationals in January, showing that there 2nd best in Canada, haha.

Looks like our shredder Elliot Tauscher who has been a rack sponsored athlete for 3 years is stepping it up this season. In the USASA the countries snowboarding league. He is in the 18-22 age group which is the hardest age group under pro and he's currently ranked 1st in half pipe. We expect Elliot to continue killing it for the rest of the season including Nationals and we hope to do more stuff with him in the future.

We've been keeping a close eye on where our site traffic has been coming from on PBRack and Rack Custom, analytics are a great tool in finding out where you have loose ends in your marketing campaigns. It's cool that when you search Rack Custom in google that it comes up first as the business and then 2nd is the website.

I found this quite humorous this morning when someone told me to check this out on Casual industrees blog. Looks like they took our Pabst PBRack shirt idea and made a collection out of them. Check this out, and keep in mind these are being printed by the other company as of now, we did these in 06 I think it was. Either way, ours look much better casual does have some pretty cool designs.

We've been crazy busy with the release of Rack Custom, but don't worry our main priorities are still set, and I can assure you that the PBRack Paintball apparel will be a fresh breath of air compared to whats on the market now. They will retail at 99.95 so sub 100 price range, where most pants similar to it are retailing for 150ish the color schemes will be like nothing that has been done in the paintball industry yet, just like everything else we produce. Finally got our side project Rackcustom.com finished... make sure to check it out I think it came out pretty solid. We also have the office all up and running the comcast people just came yesterday and got our internet up and rolling so as of tomorrow all operations will be ran out of there. The showroom looks awesome, make sure to come by this Friday or Saturday if you get the time as we are going to be kicking back all weekend.

Right now we are working on getting our paintball pants finished up and ready to release by the Phoenix PSP. We also have the whole new summer line of clothing that we are suppose to be releasing in 1 month so we got a lot of work ahead of us with both of these companies cranking at full steam. More updates coming tomorrow.. and hopefully a new video of the warehouse.

Busy Busy Busy= new site for printing

We've been crazy busy as usual but I don't even know if we can call it crazy busy since it seems like we are always busy so I guess we are just busy actually. Either way we just had our boy Dylan from Pistol River Creative come over and do a big space mural on our ceiling of our showroom in Auburn. Turned out great especially for being upside down the whole time. We should have the showroom open to the public by next weekend. We are just getting internet in this week so we should be fully up and running again in about 4-5 days, really excited about that. We also have been getting crazy amounts of screen printing orders through our side business Rack Customs, so we decided to get a nice little site going for it. Here's a snap shot of the work in progress should be ready for release in about a week or so. We are also working on a whole new PBRack site that will be really cool to view.

Our boy and Team Manager Greg Siewers decided to play with Aftershock for the X ball season. It sounds like Shock also picked up some X Philly guys so I think Aftershock will be a really good team next year, I'm really excited to catch some games. We also have some very big pick ups to our pro team coming in the next few weeks so keep your eyes on the look out for some HUGE names.

Business tips for anyone thinking of running a company

Right now it's harder than ever to maintain a growing business or for that matter start a business. I did a little research and it shows that there's only about a 25% chance that your new business will last 4 years. Now here's the thing that most people who want to start a business don't understand, and that's the fact that your not expected to make money for the first 2-3 years and given this economy lets be safe and double that to 4-6 years. Now that being said your lucky if you can break even on your 2nd or 3rd year but odds are you are going to be loosing a good amount of money throughout these building years.

I personally had an aunt and uncle recently move from Spain to the US to start a specialty print company. They came with only enough money to run the business free and clear for about 6 months. It didn't really cross there minds that they had to build there brand and there company for years before they should really see a profit of any kind. This is leading to a world of problems for them and are forced to pack up and move back to Spain with a big financial loss.

The reason I bring this up is all the time in the Paintball and Skate industry you can see "clothing companies" or other small companies start and end all in the same quarter due to the fact they produce a line and don't see a profit, given the fact they lost money they drop the endeavor all together. Talking to long time friend and business affiliate Jimmy Hickey it seems that most students are under the impression that they need to complete there schooling before they are expected to make money. Devoting all of there time and resources to getting a good grade in school, while the fact of the matter is you could be at school and growing your brand and business through the growing years so that when you do graduate a schooling program your that much further ahead in your career.

I have people all the time who are so entrained with what I do that they think they can start there own brand and make it big. The fact of the matter is I started PBRack in 2005 and didn't turn a profit on the company for years, I also started the company when I was 16 and just getting started in the world of competitive paintball. At age 21 now I'm able to support my self fully with very comfortable living while also maintaining a hand full of part time staff and operating our new warehouse/office. Another thing to keep in mind especially in a down economy is getting creative with your services. Questions to ask your self and your employees- How can we be more productive for less money? Can we offer any more services to bring in extra money? Can we do anything to promote our company that doesn't take away from the bottom line?

Key point I would advise to take from this quick write up are-
1. Don't plan to start a company and make money for 4-6 years, chances are you wont
2. The clothing industry is one of the most competitive industries in the world without prior knowledge of it I would advise venturing into something else
3. It's never to early to start building your brand or company
4. Get creative- business is always going to be competitive, get creative and you'll throw your competitors a curve ball

Canadian Nationals run down

Canadian Nationals were held this past weekend in Calgary, Alberta. Crazy cold temperatures as usual there and non stop snow. PBRack had a team playing in the highest division D1 and we ran a booth at the event. The PBRack team ended up taking 2nd in a very close fought battle for 1st place wasn't to bad we ended up getting to take home guns/tanks/hoppers/barrels worth enough to make us some money. The booth did pretty good as well especially for our first time in that province. Moving is a nuts, we've been moving stuff into the new warehouse all this week, looks like were going to finish moving stuff in and start setting up the offices and warehouse this Saturday which is pretty exciting. The offices are huge oversized office and the warehouse leaves enough room for all the interns to do there thing as well as enough room to store all the product. Hopefully by late next week we should have all the internet and phones setup so we can get back up to pace.

We also plan on having a little warehouse grand opening party sometime in the next couple weeks so keep your bi focals peeled.

Rack got robbed

Sometime in the last 3 days we had our warehouse broken into and the perp managed to make it out with all our computers, sewing machines, screen print dryer and a couple boxes of product. The place wasn't insured either as we were in the process of moving to our Auburn warehouse. Big bummer that people have to go that low and steal other peoples property.

It's not going to slow us down though were moving into our new warehouse next week, and releasing our new line in the next month. POW take that bitch!

All the other Rackers are spread across the world/ country celebrating on there own terms this year. Our boy Prince on what it takes to go pro nowa days

Every kids dream is to go pro. Or at least for most of us that play paintball competitively it is our ultimate goal. What is being pro? What does it take to be pro? Being in the game for about eight years, I have a good sense of what it takes to go pro. I pretty much went up through the ranks and earned the privilege to compete with the best teams in the world. Sure you can buy your way in to the pros, but that is not what most of us who play on the professional level did to make it where we are now. There is no secret to it. It is plain old simple hard work, dedication, and heart.

First, you got to put in your time. Do not expect to become pro overnight, unless you got the ten grand to blow away on a pro spot! Practice as much as you can and play against people who are better then you. You do not get anywhere beating up on noobs every weekend. You do not want to be that guy who walks around thinking they are the shit at their local field, but when they come out and spar with some real ballers they are nobody. Get on a local team and play as many local events as you can. Get as much experience under your belt that way you will be able to get noticed by other upper divisional teams to move up the ranks. Second is dedication. Being a pro paintball player you have to make a lot of sacrifices. You need to learn to how to balance your real life with paintball. Be prepared to put paintball as one of your top priorities if you plan on playing pro. At the professional level, paintball if more than just a game. We live for this shit! We grind every weekend and we miss a lot of school, and work when it comes time to compete. I work and go to school full-time and believe me, it is not easy balancing life and paintball!

If you want to play pro, you must have heart. I have seen a lot of people who had a ton of potential to become a great pro player, but they lacked heart. Some made it and fell off and some did not even get the chance. You need to have that drive in you to even stand a chance to make it to the pros. Not only does this apply to paintball, but also to anything you decide to do in life. Always give it your all and love what you do.

New Warehouse

This is our newest location we just signed the lease for, we don't move in until January but it's pretty neato. Place to park our shuttle bus and trailer, 2 entrance doors, 1 warehouse door 2 offices and a lot of deep warehouse space with loft potential. Should be pretty cool, im thinking warehouse opening day party? Ideas of how to lay it out? I think were going to make the front office our reception office with our secretary/ interns running that with the 2nd office being Jim's.

We'll as you know we always like to run specials, go hit up the website and get some great deals on product. Now on other news we just applied for our new warehouse and got accepted, signing the lease tomorrow so we're pretty excited about that. Well very excited about that, this will give us almost 2000 sq ft combined space with easy options to expand when need be. Still trying to figure out how we want to lay out the new office space and what we want to do with the new warehouse space. We're going to set up some of our mobile screen printing equipment in the warehouse along with most of our inventory and a shipping station. I think were also going to setup a cubicle for artists as they always seem to come and go. Any suggestions?

Looks like were getting a 2nd warehouse

We'll it seems like we can't stay in one place for long for the life of us. Either way a great deal came up on a warehouse in Auburn that we can't turn down. So it looks like we'll be adding this 2nd location January if everything goes as plans. What does this mean for everybody? Lots of stuff :)

New issue of PBX3

As you know the PBRack staff does a lot for PBX3 magazine. Last month our photographer Jimmy along with the whole PBRack staff and friends setup a big photoshoot to take up 30 pages in there gift guide issue hitting stores now. We also have a PBRack ad in the magazine, but keep you eyes peeled because you'll see our product in around 20-30 pages of the mag. Sponsorship

Sponsorship- a widely used word in this industry right? But what does it really mean for a sponsor and to a consumer. Everyone is looking for a free handout, but who's really willing to put in the actual work to make sponsorship worth it. We recently posted a listing on pbnation announcing that we were accepting sponsorship requests, as usual we got bombarded. It's great to weed through these because half of the people compile a request in 2-3 minutes, another 10 percent don't fill it out a request right or spell everything right for that matter! SPELLCHECK! The other 30-35 percent are teams that have played 1 or 2 events and are asking for free stuff.

That being said you have about 5-10 percent of all sponsorship emails that are even worth reading through or considering. I just recently read a post similar to this from another clothing company friend in a different industry doing band sponsorships. He made some great points, people wanting to get sponsored say they will offer "exposure" by wearing your stuff. This isn't Nascar, we've had people wear our stuff on TV and our clothing has been "exposed" to millions, and did that really generate a single sale? Who knows maybe, maybe not, most likely not. That being said if your looking to get sponsored lay it out and see if you can offer the company anything that will PROFIT them, they are in business after all. Then ask the question if you were running a company would you sponsor someone like yourself? Remember this money your giving out is your own now?

We sponsor more people then is benefiting us, but our most successful sponsorship case would have to be Greg Siewers. He was originally on the Ironmen when we picked him up, now he's on Aftermath. Greg goes out of his way to push PBRack as a brand, he offers to sell product at events and gets teams and players interested in it and has actually made us sales. He has also come up to Washington and Idaho to host PBRack clinics at minimals costs so we could make a profit. We've been so happy with Greg's performance that we promoted him to Team Manager so that he can help instill this behavior in all our athletes. Remember, sponsorships a 2 way street, it goes both ways.
